Mohammed Ali was the ruler of Greater Egypt, which in the early nineteenth century extended south from southern Sudan; east to what is now Saudi Arabia; and north into Crete, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, and Israel. Mohammed Ali Pasha is the founder of the Mohammed Ali dynasty, the last ruling family of Egypt, which was toppled in 1952. His reign lasted for 43 years from 1805 until 1848. more
